- Mushroom – 250 g
- Onion – 1 Large
- Tomato – 1
- Ginger - 1 small piece
- Garlic- 2 cloves
- Green chilli- 1 (slit)
- Fennel Seeds – ½ tsp
- Powders:
- Crushed pepper- 3/4 tsp
- Red Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
- Garam masala – ¾ tsp
- Curry leaves – few
- Oil – 5 tbsp
- Mustard
- Salt
Method:
- Clean mushrooms and place them in salted boiling water with a pinch of turmeric for few minutes; then strain and slice the mushrooms and set aside.
- Add oil in a heavy bottomed vessel. Once hot, add mustard, once it pops add fennel seeds and saute well.
- Add sliced onion with 1/4 salt, keep and cover. Cook in low flame for 5-8 minutes.
- Add black pepper powder and mix well.
- Add crushed ginger garlic and green chilies saute on medium heat for few minutes and toss constantly (we don't want them to burn).
- Add the sliced mushrooms, place lid and cook on medium flame until soft and cooked. Stir in between till all the liquid is absorbed.
- You can add lime juice if you fancy a tangy taste at this stage. If not transfer to a serving dish. Enjoy.

I have eaten mushroom fry in restaurants, but I don't think I can make it. I mean considering my (non-existent) culinary skills right now :)
